How I Crush the Day (Before 9 AM) & you CAN too: 4 Habits for a Strong Personal Brand

Updated: Jun 17

4 Personal Branding Habits

People ask me all the time, “How do you get so much done?”The truth? It’s not magic. It’s momentum. And it all starts first thing in the morning.

Here’s what my routine looks like before I dive into client work—and how it directly supports the personal branding strategies I teach. 4 Habits for a Strong Personal Brand

1. Mentally Right = Energy On Point

Before I even think about emails or notifications, I take 5–10 minutes to meditate. I know it might sound a little woo-woo, but being still, thinking positively, and breathing calmly—that is meditation. While I’m still, I go over three or four things I’m grateful for. It’s just enough to quiet the noise and get grounded.

Then I grab my weighted vest and head out for a walk. It’s my time to reset, move my body, and focus on my health. It’s not just about fitness, it’s about showing up for myself with intention.

I’m not going to lie: at 57, nothing seems to move the needle when it comes to dropping a few pounds. But I know movement is essential if you want to maintain—or even consider—losing weight. Lately, I’ve started to notice subtle shifts—walking with the weighted vest, 4 miles a day, 5 days a week, is making a difference. I feel stronger, healthier, and more physically fit.

2. Avoid Busy Work = Be Productive

Every morning, I review my list and highlight the three tasks that absolutely must get done. It’s my way of cutting through the noise. I’m not interested in being busy—I want to be effective.

That’s what I teach, a strong personal brand isn’t built by doing everything. It’s built by doing the right things consistently. Busy work leads to burnout. And whether you’re building your own business or working a 9-5, trying to stand out in a complex organization, you’ve got to choose wisely how you spend your time.

Focus your energy on revenue-generating work, projects, and tasks that align with your goals or your company’s priorities. Sometimes we gravitate toward the work we like or already excel at. And while that can feel productive, it often keeps us invisible.

Ask yourself: If I spend time on this task, how does it help me gain visibility?

3. Networking = Relationship Building

Love it or hate it, networking is key to career security, inbound leads, growth, and self-confidence. It’s also wired into our survival as humans. Even though we have access to more resources than ever, society feels more isolated. That’s why we have to be intentional about building real relationships for both personal and professional growth.

I set my timer and spend 10–15 minutes a day on LinkedIn, five days a week. I comment, reply to DMs, and celebrate the wins of others. It’s not about checking a box; it’s about showing up for others in a meaningful way.

Here’s the truth: If you’re not building relationships, you’re just broadcasting. That’s not where the magic happens.

4. Be Seen, Be Strategic

Before I move on with the rest of my day, I make sure I’ve got a post scheduled. Some days I batch content, other days I go with what’s top of mind—but I always post something. Why? Because consistency matters.

It tells the algorithms you mean business. You start to become top of mind with your ideal customer. You get better at storytelling. And you build data you can learn from, so you know what’s resonating and what’s not.

Whether you’re sharing thought leadership, behind-the-scenes insights, or quick tips, make sure it has a purpose. Don’t just post to post.

With my morning routine behind me, I log off LinkedIn and get into business mode, with no doom scrolling and no distractions. Just clarity and momentum.

You don’t need a 3-hour miracle morning to build a bold brand. You need a focused first hour to achieve the 4 Habits for a Strong Personal Brand.

Consistency. Clarity. Connection. That’s what builds momentum, and that’s what I help my clients master.

If you’re ready to finally feel clear and confident about your personal brand, I’ve got frameworks that make it simple—and totally doable. Let’s connect.
